The PHP Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP) is a programming language that allows web developers to create dynamic content that interacts with databases. PHP is basically used for developing web based software applications. PHP is used in server-side scripting, command line scripting and for writing desktop applications. PHP can be used on all major operating systems, including Linux, many UNIX variants (including Himachal Pradesh-UX, Solaris and OpenBSD), Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, RISC OS, and probably others. PHP also has support for most of the web servers today. This includes Apache, IIS, and many others. And this includes any web server that can utilize the FastCGI PHP binary, like LIGHTTPD and NGINX. PHP works as either a module, or as a CGI processor. PHP is easy to learn. Knowing only PHP has very limited career scope in India. Most of the jobs in PHP are with small IT shops. PHP with other IT skills is good for IT development career. PHP developers can do freelancing projects as well seek part time contract job of developer I IT industry.

To get an opportunity to work as a PHP developer in an MNC, you should have a sound knowledge of Zend, Symphony, Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress. Beside this, you should also be compatible with handling Web Servers, Linux scripting, handling databases, enterprise applications. Mostly, MNC hires experienced PHP developers and a number of openings are lesser than J2EE and .Net. A list of companies offering opportunities for the same- HCL technologies, BirlaSoft, Wipro, InfoSys, Cognizant, Capgemini, etc.
