Hello! The career growth of Project Management is increasing with every passing day. Because its that type of management which is needed at all department and in almost all the companies. After learning about project management, you can work under different names viz, assistant project manager, business change manager, junior/senior project manager, project coordinator, project officer, etc. but the required set of skills are same. As a project manager, your responsibilities are to coordinate the work of your project teammates and delegate tasks where appropriate. You have to submit your monthly/quarterly report to the top management. From salary aspects, the salary is also handsome which varies from 35,000/- to 45,000/- depending on your post, qualifications, company, etc. It is recommended that you should have to do your post graduation from this specialization (preferred institution is IIM-B). The best combination is B.Tech IT + MBA Project Management. In some sectors, such as IT and engineering, your subject knowledge will be more important than a business or project management degree. You can move into project management from technical roles after gaining experience in a project team or in a supporting administrative role. Hope this helps. Good luck.

For a management accountant today, sky is the limit. In our previous post, we saw how management accountants are in huge demand due to the rapidly changing economic scenario and complex nature of business today. Especially in India, there is a growing demand for CIMA professionals due to various factors. So, if you are a student planning to enroll with the CIMA or are a CIMA member already, you would want to know where your career path would lead you from here. It is true that CIMA opens a whole range of opportunities, but your career path is also determined by your aptitude towards a certain function, your experience and personal skill sets. You automatically brace yourselves for a fulfilling career once you arm your aptitude with a global degree like CIMA. The road ahead: According to CIMA, there is a huge shortage of qualified management accountants with business partnering skills in India. Hence, there is a good opportunity for new CIMA members to bag senior level roles across sectors. Specialists, more than generalists are in demand, in this country which means candidates with experience in a particular sector are more preferred. The key skill sets that employers are looking for are: (1) Track record in value addition (2) Sharp business acumen and (3) Strong communication and people management skills. So, if you have your eyes set on those plum offers, its time to take a serious look at CIMA (if you still haven't), review your strengths and focus on your key competencies. Once you prove your worth to the prospective employers, there is no stopping you!

If you want to pursue Project Management as a career path, YES! I will answer your query in 3 parts: Project Management is a life skill It is one the top three skills employers are looking for. The other 2 being leadership and business analysis. It is a transferable skillset across industries and geography. Once you learn the skills, you can apply them in any organization private sector or government, anywhere in the world Specifically to a project management career: Initiation, planning, and execution of high-value projects require a professional approach rather than trial and error. You are managing taxpayers money. Armed with PMP, an individual will have good knowledge and perspective of how to efficiently deliver these projects. As a project management professional it is important to plan up front and outline: - what is the benefit the project is supposed to deliver? - what you will do and what you won't do (scope definition)? - how long it will take you to do it and how much funds it will take to get it done. (time and cost)? - how will you ensure quality is being implemented at every stage? - how will you get resources? - how will you communicate keeping in mind cultural issues? - how will you identify and manage risks? - how will you decide on vendors - since part of projects are vendor driven? - how will you manage expectation of the stakeholders to keep them engaged throughout the life cycle of the project? - You then need the skills to help you keep it all on track to ensure you get the results you had intended to achieve. Value-add of PMP Credential: The PMP designation provides you with the knowledge of the steps to properly plan your initiative and keep it on track. When applying for a job, the PMP designation could also set you apart. It is definitely an asset to have employees who know how to effectively manage their time and resources and get the results! It's a growing profession. As per the latest PMI Salary Survey Report, in India, PMPs earn 40% more than project managers who are not certified.
