Sociology as a career is not only a very alluring career but also many selections. The career is varied in terms of the specializations that one can choose from. Once you have finished your education there will be quite some prospects. Research institutes, the criminal justice system, public health and welfare organizations, private businesses, law firms, international agencies, medical centers, educational institutions, advertising firms, survey, and polling organizations are only some of the example where people from this background are required. People like economists, political scientists, anthropologists, psychologists and social workers also require the assistance to make the right choices in their field. Once you complete your education in this field you can choose to be an educator, researcher, counselor, consultant, etc. There are some MA and Ph.D. sociologists which can obtain specialized training to become counselors, therapists, or program directors in social service agencies.

There is a huge number of opportunities available in India after having the degree in sociology. In India, there are a large number of university/colleges which offer this course with a great number of professional faculties. Government sector do always welcome the sociology students. Sociology graduates can apply for jobs in the census bureau, policy analysis, homeland security, social science analysis, administration and federal agencies. Depending on your skill set, you can also find positions in statistics, research design, data analysis, etc. But, graduation rates are such that most of these spots are taken by those with Masters. In journalism, there are some job chances as well. Studying sociology gives one a fair idea about how the social groups work, it's complications and undercurrents which can make a good journalist. Public relations officer, newspaper or magazine journalist, technical writer, etc. Hope this helps. Best of luck.
