English literature is very niche specialization and has seen some very specific roles especially into Public Sector or Government funded organization. Some major roles seen are into:- 1. Translator for Foreign Embassy 2. Narrator for Foreign Embassy 3. Supreme Court Lawyers (LLB is must) 4. Armed forces personnel 5. Civil service workers 6. Health service workers. 7. Teachers at Government schools 8. Education Counsellors at Rural Schools 9. Education Ministry Positions (PG plus work experience is must) 10. Content writer for Government So, this stream opens up plethora of varied roles across various PSUs in different industry verticals. With advent of Skill India, Make in India, Digital India Program by Government of India, this field shall see creating millions of jobs across various subdomain.

There are many government job opportunities for both graduate and postgraduate in English and Literature. A graduate in English and literature can apply for various exams conducted by central and state governments, PSUs such as UPSC (Union Public Service Commission), SSC (Staff Selection Commission), IBPS and SBI PO, Indian Railways and become grade one or grade two officers in the government. Apart from this, if one is interested in teaching, one can pursue B.Ed after graduation and apply for teacher position in various government schools. A postgraduate in English and Literature can appear for UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) and SET (State Eligibility Test) and apply for assistant professor post in various universities across the country.
