Yes, civil engineering has huge scope considering the fact that India is a developing country and infrastructure is something huge things are happening and are in pipeline too . I would advise you to go further for specialization in this field too. like very few colleges and universities are offering Civil Engineering with specialization in Infrastructure. I know one university called UTM, Shillong which is famous for the programs like this called Civil Engineering with specialisation in Infrastrcuture Development. Infrastructure is, in fact, one of the fastest growing field in India today. The booming economy is a result of bettering infrastructure in all spheres of industrialization. This engineering program at UTM has been designed to create a highly skilled construction and project management professionals who fully understand the planning, designing, estimating, execution and maintenance of structures. It even combines transportation infrastructure that encompasses road, airports, railways, docks and harbours, lifeline structures like bridges, dams and canals, and structures of water supply and sanitary units.

Now days there is demand for civil engineers due to developments in cities. If you want more opportunities you should apply where there is more need of engineers in good cities like Banglore,Pune,Mumbai etc. it will promote you to higer level.There is also government jobs for civil (PWD) if you have BTech degree.

Scope is based upon your area of interest, you can be a draftsman or site engineer in private companies, gain some experience and get placed in large construction companies like Int etc. You can have your own construction company. For that, you have to know the marketing strategies. Best would be to go for central government jobs, where you can get settled easily.

Hi Due to increase in the scope of civil engineering , it has now got diversified into many branches of study. Some of the significant ones include structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, hydraulic engineering, environmental engineering and a few more important areas of study. So Civil Engineering has very good future.
