Merits are: One gets a chance to be a part of a premier Institute such as an IIM from 5-years straight and thus can gain lots of knowledge, experience, and exposure in the field of management. The course aims at overall development of an individual and polishes the innate skills and talents. Demerits: 5-years at a single place might be boring and appear monotonous. If one is interested in the field of engineering or others you might miss on that.

Started by IIM, Indore in 2011, the five-year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) is the first of its class in India. IPM is aimed to get students who have passed out of class XII/Higher Secondary or equivalent from schools across India. So, this is one of the merits, you can go to an IIM just after completing your school. IM, Indore has a well-qualified faculty across academic disciplines. IPM students are taught by a mix of resident and eminent visiting faculty, resource persons from renowned colleges/institutes and industry experts. So excellent faculty and study environment is another plus point. Five years is a long-term commitment. You can't drop out after three and pursue something else. This is one of the cons. It is an expensive course. The fee is around Rs 4 lakhs per annum plus extra hostel charges and many other things.

There have been many reasons to doubt, valid as well as hyped, but as I understand, it is one of the best programs in India at the undergraduate level. For 5 full years, you get to experience the environment of IIM. This can make a lot of difference in your personality. Think if 2 years MBA works miracle, what would be spending 5 years there do to you? IIM, Indore has a good ranking in IIMs. Last I know was 9th. There are some demerits also. After MBA you get Diploma, not degree. As far I have researched, the 2 year MBA students get more attention than 5-year ones. Also being a new course, placement scenario is not so sure. The course is an expensive one. As compared to other professional graduation courses this course is particularly expensive. Also, BBA through other colleges is quite feasible.
