Fees Government engineering colleges charge fees as decided by the government. Under the private quota seats the students need to pay higher fees. Infrastructure Government colleges generally lack essential infrastructure for students like hostels, computer lab and other labs, furniture. The staff of the engineering college manages with the minimum equipment available in these colleges and teaches the students with the minimum facilities available. Private engineering colleges have good infrastructure when compared to government engineering colleges. Teaching Faculty Government colleges have good faculty on the rolls, the government also pays the faculty well. With regular pay raises, the life of a government engineering college professor is easy. Private engineering colleges employ faculty, but there is an acute shortage of teachers in most of the engineering colleges and even the premiere engineering colleges. Placements Placements are rather high in private engineering colleges. Multinational companies like Dell, Axis Bank, Accenture, Federal Bank, Infosys, L&T visit the campus of premiere engineering colleges. The students of the engineering colleges form their own placement committee and scout for placements and the college provides support in the form of exclusive placement officer. This enables the students to understand the market conditions and be ready for the placement season.
