In an academic context, IT or software degrees such B.Tech CS or IT/ BCA/B.Sc IT or CS are undergraduate degree programs that prepare students to meet the computer technology needs of business, government, healthcare, schools, and other kinds of organizations . B.Tech CSE graduate specializes in theory of computation and design of computational systems. CSE graduates are trained to integrate several disciplines such as Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Software Design, etc. The CSE graduates are mainly involved in the development of software and hardware systems of various aspects of computing for products, systems and Information Systems. B.Tech IT is a program wherein students are trained to work as Developer in the field of Computer Applications Development and Maintenance. B.Sc IT is a program wherein students are trained to work as Developer in the field of Computer Applications Development and Maintenance. B.Sc CS is a more academic course, and focuses mainly on mathematical and theoretical foundations of computing and help students to become Systems Developers. Syllabus of B.Sc CS and B.Sc IT is similar up to 80 to 90% in various universities. Courses on Computer languages, data structure, databases, and networking etc are common. B.Sc degree course program is primarily focused on in the field of Computer Applications such as mobile computing, ERP, SCM etc whereas B.Sc CS degree program primarily focused on subjects with more mathematical and theoretical foundations of computing rather than emphasizing specific technologies. It covers all emerging topic like Artificial Intelligence, BIDW etc. Market acceptance of both degrees are similar. Both degrees can only help you to get only entry level jobs and will require acquisition of PG degrees such as MCA and M.Sc IT/CS for a meaningful career. IT Product companies prefer B.Tech CSE graduates. In any engineering entrance examination seats of B.Tech CSE are first to be filled. B.Tech CSE is a higher degree over B.Sc CS/IT.
