There is no difference between the two degrees, at present. Both have the same syllabus and the same type of jobs to offer to you. Also, the companies which recruit you on campus do not discriminate between the two. Ideally, a B.E. course should be teaching you more about the concept applied in engineering, along with the domain fundamentals, while a B.Tech course should be teaching you the applications of those principles, fundamentals and other concepts. The two, however, have no such differences in reality, and you need not worry about any differences in terms of job prospects. As long as you're suited for engineering, you'll ace college examinations. Also, if you're concerned about job prospects, your personality and your communication skills are taken into serious consideration. Engineering is therefore an experience beyond your curriculum, and it changes how you go about things. Do let us know if there's anything more we can help you with. All the best!

There could be many differences that could be stated but the most important is that the B.Tech course is somewhat more practically intensive than the BE course which is more theoretical. The name could also pose as a difference that is engineering versus technology, but that actually does not matter. Although for better understanding you could say that: Engineering is a 'science', dealing more with theoretical concepts & principles; technology deals more with the application of these theories for practical purposes. But, both BE & B.Tech courses offered by various engineering colleges/ institutes have similar curriculum more or less. Both degrees are valued equally by prospective employers. What matters more is the reputation of the engineering college from where you obtain your BE/ B.Tech degree. There are also a lot of common misconceptions such as, * B.Tech is offered by government institutes and BE is offered by private institutes. There is absolutely no truth in this. Institutes like Netaji Subash Institute of Technology, University of Mumbai (Department of Chemical Technology) which are government institutes offer a BE degree and there are many private institutes that offer a B.Tech degree In both, BE and B.Tech, industrial training is compulsory after semester 6. * B.Tech or BE is valued more than the other however your performance matters more than your degree title

B.Tech. is quite more practical as compared to BE which is a little bit theoretical. Generally, in the B.Tech course, you get to do more projects along with final year major project through which you can enhance your practical knowledge and skills, whereas in BE, in the final year you get to do your major project. Employability of both of these degrees is same. But, at the end, it doesn't matter whether you have B.Tech or BE. It is how much knowledge you have, matters!

The only difference that matters is this: "The B.Tech course is somewhat more practically rigorous than the BE course is more theoretical". The difference (which is quite minor) between the two degrees can be understood from their names itself, Engineering vs Technology. Engineering is a "science", dealing additionally with theoretical concepts & principles; technology deals more with the application of these theories for practical determinations. But, both B.E. & B.Tech courses provided by numerous engineering colleges/institutes, have similar curriculum more or less. Both degrees are valued equally by potential employers. What matters more is the reputation of the engineering college from where you acquire your B.E/ B.Tech degree. Misconceptions * B.Tech is offered by government institutes and B.E. is offered by private institutes. There is undeniably no truth in this. Institutes like Netaji Subash Institute of Technology, University of Mumbai (Department of Chemical Technology) which are government institutes offer a BE degree and there are many private institutes that offer a B.Tech degree. * No industrial training in BE or B.Tech In both, BE and B.Tech, industrial training is compulsory after 6thj semester. * B.Tech or BE is valued more than the other. Your performance matters more than your degree title. Neither is chosen over the other. Bachelor in Engineering is a graduate level program done directly after a student's 10+2. After the class 12th exam, the candidate has to look for any state or national level engineering entrance through which he or she will get admission into an engineering college. The course of this degree emphasis on theoretical knowledge needed to innovate technology and make new technical gadgets. Bachelor in Technology is also a graduate level program done straight after completing 10+2. After a student completed his/her class 12th exam, the candidate has to appear for any state or national level engineering entrance through which he or she will get admission into a college that provides technology course. There are many such universities. The course of this degree focuses on application and skill-based study and is useful if one is interested in modifying structures to improve their quality.
