Computer engineering deals with designing, developing, and operating computer systems. At its core, Computer engineering concentrates on digital hardware devices and computers and the software that controls them. Advanced courses focus on standard designs and techniques for specific application domains. Computer Engineering emphasizes solving problems in digital hardware and at the hardware-software interface. Computer engineers are hired by computer hardware and networking design and manufacturing companies. Computer science focuses on understanding, designing, and developing programs and computers. At its core, Computer Science concentrates on data, data transformation, and algorithms. Advanced courses present specialized programming techniques and specific application domains. CS graduates are hired by system and application development and maintenance IT companies. In India very rarely universities offer separate degree courses in computer science and computer engineering. Most Universities in India offer Bachelor's in Technology Computer Science and Engineering which has both hardware and software courses. B.Tech CSE grads have maximum scope and opportunities in India. However, specialization as CE or CS is available at M.Tech or MS level.
