Computer Science is no more about computers than astronomy is about telescopes. A renowned computer scientist Edsger W Dijkstra made this observation. Computer Science engineers are involved in many aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers and supercomputers to circuit design and writing software that powers them whereas the electronics and communication engineering involves the transmission of information across channels such as a coax cable, optical fiber or free space. You can work on designing equipment such as routers, switches, multiplexers and electronic switching systems, copper telephone facilities and fiber optics.

However, both are a bit different, but EC will be easier, you may have observed that cut offs are max for CS only as it's more in demand but difficult too.
