E-Learning is the delivery of a learning, training or education programme by electronic means. It generally involves the use of a computer or electronic device to provide training, educational or learning material. It may include the use of web-based teaching materials & hypermedia, multimedia CD-ROM's or web sites, learning management systems, computer aided assessments, synchronous / asynchronous collaborative tools, virtual tutors, discussion forums, e-mail, blogs, wikis, simulations, games, etc. With possibly a combination of different methods being used. E-Learning is naturally suited to distance learning, self-study and flexible learning, but can also be used in conjunction with face-to-face teaching, in which case the term Blended learning is commonly used.
