You have not mentioned which board so my answer is for CBSE board. For JEE Mains, from last year onwards, marks are not rank deciding factor. Thus if you have 60% then you are eligible for admission in NIT and IIIT. But for Advanced, you have to score a minimum of 75%. Hope that helps.

Yes, for pursuing engineering you should have a minimum of 60% marks as aggregate in your board exams. It is the criteria that will allow you to sit for the examination.

For JEE Mains, you should have 60% marks in 12th class. For Appearing JEE advance after clearing Mains, you should have 75% marks in 12th class otherwise you would not be eligible for JEE advance. And on the basis of JEE Mains score, You can get NITs, IIITs and other top colleges according to counselling. Only after cracking JEE advance you will get IITs. So, atleast, you need to score 75% marks in class 12th. Thanks Keep asking and keep smiling.
