Chefs at different levels have different duties and responsibilities and it is very difficult to generalize the job profile of a chef. An Executive chef will have a totally different duties and responsibilities than a sous chef or a Chef De parti. Generally, a chef in a five star hotel is responsible for – 1) Production of dish for the guests. 2) Keeping the kitchen clean and hygienic. 3) Maintaining inventory of raw materials. 4) Keeping the food cost under control. 5) Minimise wastage. 6) Indenting raw material for next day's production 7) Formulating menu in coordination with F&B manager and restaurant manager. 8) Formulating Standard Purchase Specifications (SPS) in coordination with Purchase manager.
