Industrial Design Centre was established in Mumbai IIT in 1969. It was very visionary decision to have this along with premier IIT. It was established primarily to encourage the study of industrial design which is of vital importance for a country on the path of industrialisation. Presently, this department offers different courses and also facilities for research also. The biggest advantage for this school of design is its co-location with IIT. Excellent academics and close interactions with industry have made placements for these professionals a very simple exercise. It's a problem of plenty with students able to choose or reject. Co-ordination with industry, updated syllabus, the latest tools required and futuristic outlook. All these factors have made this design centre and its students most sought after by the industry. Fantastic placement opportunities are available for the students.
