Well, that highly depends on your area of interest. Talking about the levels of both the institutions, there isn't much difference. Based on placements, environment or infrastructure & faculty, both PEC and NIT are equally good & reputed colleges. But I have would suggest that only if you are interested in Automobiles & machinery stuff, you should go for mechanical. Mechanical as far as I know, is quite more difficult compared to Chemical. So you got to choose accordingly.! Anyhow, you can contact me anytime if you are here at NIT. Good luck.

Both options are good. You may chose based on your interest to excel. BTech Mechanical at PEC Chandigarh is a little better option in comparison to NIT BTech Chemical Engineering. PEC has better reputation, brand value and placement record in comparison to NIT Jalandhar.
