You should do sports management in the case. Even I am aspiring to become a touring car driver, but Motorsports is really expensive. So, an indirect way to become a sports person is to do sports management. It will enable you to work in this industry at competitive salaries and at the same time make contacts in this industry who can help u get into your desired sports provided that u possess the required talent. I am also doing the same in order to get into car racing through sports management. For example Juan Mata, Manchester United player, he completed his degree in sports management parallel to his football career.

Go for sports because you'll be happy with what you do. Engineering can be frustrating if you aren't sure about it.
