As you have already mentioned that you are pursuing engineering from a private college, it is better to focus on engineering and complete it with outstanding performance. Don't let yourself deviate from the present task of graduation. It may manifest drawbacks in future. As far as govt. jobs are concerned you can prepare for it even after engineering. Rather with a good technical background you could also prepare for UPSC or some other technical recruitments in government. Wish you luck for your future.

You can do but not as a regular student from the same university. Ofcourse you can prepare for government jobs also. But i would suggest concentrate on any one.

I think if u want to do govt. job so b.tech is very good. if u are doing b.tech in mechanical;civil or electrical then in this branches many govt. job are available and many govt. bank have engineers work in banking sectors. so b.tech is good. if u will do b.com then u will need to go for MBA.because only b.com have no value. but u know well engineering have so much value. so go for b.tech if u are interest in it.

Both are equally good.Only thing you need is graduation for govt. jobs.but yes b.tech is 4 year course and b.com is three year.choose wisely.
