- As a chef, you have wide range of career prospects. You can be appointed in varied places like hotels, restaurants, air catering, railway catering, etc. You can be a food writer. You can start up a business of your own. You also have a chance to go abroad and get job opportunities in hotels as the Indian recipes are the most demanded ones now a days. - As a chef you can get attractive salary and other benefits. The salary range differs in consideration to your experience and place where you work.

You need to go to a culinary school which is usually of 3 years in the UK, perhaps 4 years in the USA. The courses start with the first year of learning basic techniques which you pass with an exam.
