You can follow these steps 1. Check the syllabus for CAT & MAT 2. Take a mock/ sample test to evaluate your readiness of the concepts. 3. Revise and practice the difficult concepts daily. 4. You need to join in summer vacation of 2nd year for preparation of CAT Since you can appear for cat in 3rd yr of graduation For mat you can join later since its exam appears later after CAT

It is better to concentrate first on your basic knowledge in the fist year of B.Com. When you learn more in the second year, your general awareness also increases. Side-by-side you should start solving objective questions of CAT and MAt all by yourself. By the end of Second year, your general awareness would have increased, and , when you start feeling that now your require specific practical guidance, then make a move to join an institute which prepares you for CAT and MAT. Before gaining a sound base in commerce, it is useless to ride simultaneously in two boats.
