Banks recruit their officers through the competitive exams for recruitment of probationary officers. The eligibility criterion is graduation from recognised university and your age should be between 21-30 years. While graduates from all disciplines are eligible to write this exam, candidates in the general category are required to have secured at least 65% marks in graduation. In the public sector, a Probationary Officer in the bank is the starting level appointment for bank officers and the promotional prospects are quite healthy with your work defining your limit of success. To prepare for the Bank Probationary Officers entrance exam, there are a number of books and correspondence courses available. The first phase of the SBI bank PO entrance exam will have objective type and descriptive type portions. The objective type portion will have papers in reasoning, quantitive aptitude, general awareness and English. The descriptive type paper will have comprehension, analysis of situation and language ability. You can prepare from Quantitative Aptitude by Abhijit Guha and Objective Ques Bank (math) by R.K.Gupta and J.P Arya. For general awareness, if you read the daily newspaper and watch news broadcasts, that should do. You could also use magazines such as CSR, Competition Master, Banking service Chronicle and Manorama Year book. For Dates regarding entrance exam check:
