For MHT-CET, you have to treat your board text books as holy books. MHT-CET mostly revolves around the 12th portion of State board. Make sure you have read every single line of the textbooks for at least 3 times if you are serious about the exam. But this is not enough. You have to practice many application based questions for the exam. Use test series and question banks of reputed coaching institutes. Main factor in CET is also time management. So once you are done with your syllabus thoroughly have at least 20 full mock tests under exam conditions. I would suggest timed practice from start as such. I won't say there are any specific important topics. I suggest to cover entire portion and then do timed practice. A score of 185+ is a decent score and you can surely get it if you employ above mentioned strategy. It will be easier for you if you are already preparing for exams like JEE. The numerical part of CET is easy compared to JEE. Only thing you would need to do is cover the theory from text books and give timed mock tests.

Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) is a state level undergraduate engineering entrance exam. Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra conducts MHT-CET for admission to undergraduate engineering courses available in colleges of Maharashtra. There will be three papers which consist of 100 questions for each. For every correct response, candidates will be awarded one mark. However, in mathematics paper, 2 marks would be provided for every correct response. In case students have clicked two answers for one question, it will be assumed as an incorrect answer and hence no marks will be awarded. There is no negative marking system introduced by the conducting body. Important topics are as follows:- 1) MH-CET Physics syllabus includes 20 chapters both from class XI and class XII. There are 50 questions in the physics section. As per the analysis, 6 questions were asked from Kinetic Theory of Gases and Radiation. The other important sections are oscillations, atoms, molecules, and nuclei Chemistry. 2) MH-CET Chemistry syllabus comprises 16 chapters from HSC syllabus in Maharashtra. Most of the questions in the exam are asked from Chemical Thermodynamics and Energetics (8 questions out of 50 questions). The other important chapters were p block elements, coordination compounds, and d & f block elements. 3) MH CET Maths Syllabus has 20 chapters both from Class XI and Class XII collectively. There are 100 questions in this section with 9 questions from Integration. Other important topics were trigonometry, 3D Geometry, and differentiation. Hope it helps.

Most of the engineering entrance exams except JEE Advanced are based simply on JEE Mains pattern of questions and syllabus. MHCET syllabus though is very tough and lengthy when compared to entrance exams of private universities and even BITS. The topics in the syllabus require thorough study and lots of practice as the paper is very time-consuming. The most important topics in chemistry are chemical bonding, s, p, d, f blocks, alkane, alkene, alkyne, ionic and chemical equilibrium, atomic structure, mole concept, thermodynamics and periodic properties. For physics, heat and thermo, resistive and capacitive circuits, electro magnetic induction, NLM, friction, kinematics, SHM, ray and wave optics. For maths, the calculus from differentiation, integration up to the area under the curve, series functions, 2 D geometry including circles, hyperbola, ellipse and parabola, vectors and 3 D. The above-mentioned topics are the most important, though, the study of the whole syllabus is mandatory. Hope it helped. Thank you.
