As per my knowledge, these two affiliations are most important for engineering colleges and every engineering institute must have been recognised by these: 1: University Grants Commission of India: The University Grants Commission of India also known as UGC India) is a statutory body set up in accordance with the UGC Act 1956 by the Indian Union government under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The main Objective of The University Grants Commission of India is determining and maintaining the standards of higher education in India. It makes sure that the organizations recognized are meeting the criteria laid down by the government as the standard for higher education. 2: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE): All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) was set up initially as an advisory committee and now regulates the standards of higher education in India. It regulates, planned, decides funds for various educational education institutes in India Every engineering college needs to be recognized by these two organizations and its mandatory. Hope that helps. All the best.

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE): The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is the statutory body and a national-level council for technical education, under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development. Established in November 1945 first as an advisory body and later on in 1987 given statutory status by an Act of Parliament, AICTE is responsible for proper planning and coordinated development of the technical education and management education system in India. The AICTE accredits postgraduate and graduate programs under specific categories at Indian institutions as per its charter. The list of unapproved institution can be checked here.
