Chemical engineering branch has many characteristics of a core branch of engineering. Graduates may bag following roles in the above mentioned sectors- Plant Managers Production Engineer Purchase and Quality Control Executive Safety Management Officer Chemical Engineer Plant Designer A professional in the field of food technology can find the employment in the field of food manufacturing plant, research and development labs, catering companies, food whole sellers, restaurant and the hospital. People can choose the area of their working as per the interest of their subject. Some of the regulatory positions are also available by the introduction of new food law. There is a big opportunity to work with across the countries with multinational companies. Both branches have good scope. Chemical engineering is an evergreen branch of engineering whereas food technology is a rapidly developing branch. However, you should opt for a course which you feel comfortable with, and where your interests lie. I have tried to include the scope of both fields within this answer, so that it is easier for you to decide. Good luck.
