Despite the fact that you get to rock in your very own department building, with the biotechnology department having the highest number of faculty members, academic or non academic, I must tell you the placements for biotechnology at SRM are'nt satisfactory. Very few core companies visit the campus, selecting even fewer students, making the majority to end up in marketing or it companies. The placements record of Vit seems to be better but not enough to gaurantee you a core job in the field. Cheers! If these are the last options on your list, select the better of the developing universities. VIT!

VIT University will be the better option, because VIT offers good placements records as well as have good faculties. It is among the top reputed colleges of India and have a tie up with many MNc's.

B.Tech in Biotechnology: VIT University is better because The School offers two undergraduate (B.Tech.) and six Postgraduate (M.Sc. & M. Tech.) programmes. It also offers M.S. and Ph.D. programmes in research. The syllabus of each of the above programmes covers the latest developments in the respective streams and designed based on market needs so that employability can be improved. The other major priorities include developing entrepreneurship skills and grooming students to become future scientists for the improvement of mankind. The School has taken up research programmes in the fields of Microbiology, Medical genetics, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering and other branches of Biomedical Sciences. The School has really grown into a major centre of higher education and research in the above fields in this part of the world. An important feature in the academic activity of SBST is its strong linkage with many national institutions such as Defence Bioengineering and Electro Medical Laboratories, Bangalore; Central Scientific and Instrument Organization, Chandigarh; Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, Delhi; Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, Nicholas Piramal Laboratories-Mumbai, etc. Scope of employment: In food, pharmaceutical, bio-informatics, bio-processing and allied industries. As analysts and managers in R&D and quality control laboratories. As entrepreneurs to start biotech industries. Program Content: Core Courses: Bioprocess and Downstream Operations / Analytical Instrumentation / Industrial, Food and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology / Nanotechnology and Protein Engineering / Bioinformatics and Systems Biology. Elective courses: Cancer and Stem Cell Engineering / Medical Diagnostics / Computer Programming and Computer Graphics / BioMEMS and Artificial Organs / Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Workshop / Management and Communication Skills.

Definitely one should go for SRM University for biotechnology. Though both the universities have old establishment SRM University has invested huge and effortlessly to get to the top. Also, the same is reflected in the rankings conducted by NIRF and IPSOS which was powered by Zee news. Apart from the academics, SRM has very vibrant and modern lifestyle accompanied with a very happening and creative pool of talented minds. Now, it is true fact that the biotechnology has still not found much scope in the corporate world still is widely opted in India for its large scope in research and application in abroad. The placements, when compared to both the colleges from recent recruitment drives, are as follows:- average from SRM is around Rs 6 lakhs whereas Rs 4 to Rs 4.5 lakh from VITEEE. Highest from SRM is Rs 11.8 lakh and Rs 9 lakhs from VIT. So considering all the above facts and removing the dilemma away according to me, one should definitely go for SRM University. Although, if unable to get in SRM than VIT is not a bad option. Thank you, hope it helped, feel free to ask.
