No doubt Thapar is one of the best and reputed private engineering colleges of northern India. The quality of crowd and environment is very good there. CSE is most sought after branch there. You will learn a lot. Although, VIT is also a very good University.

It is very difficult to say, which one is better. But, overall comparing like fees, placement, scholarship, facilities and others, then Thapar University is ahead of VIT.

The infrastructure of the Thapar Institute is well designed. It provides good exposure and facilities for students. Classrooms are spacious and airy and the labs are well-equipped with all the required equipment. Library is big in all aspects. Hostel rooms are decently maintained by the staff. The Wi-Fi enabled campus. The canteen food is pretty good when compared to other universities. Placements in this vary between being decent and good, depending upon your communication skills.

For B.Tech-CSE, VIT is better than Thapar University in terms of placement, exposure, etc.
