Here is a beautiful answer to the same question: COURSE DURATION B.Sc: 3 years B.Tech: 4 Years STUDY FOCUS B.Sc: Basic / pure Science B.Tech: Applied Science (technical / technological) CONTENT B.Sc: Broad and Theoretical B.Tech: Technical and Practical FLEXIBILITY BSc: The content is general with no specific changes / option for selecting a specialisation. You need to do MSc / M.Tech / M.E / MBA for specialization. B.Tech: It’s designed on individual field of engineering with an option to choose further specialisation / elective, in the final year, under your chosen field. This helps you focus on your specific area of interest. ROUTE TO HIGHER STUDIES BSc: Science & Research BSc MSc Doctorate Management BSc MBA / P.G. Diploma Engineering BSc MSc M.Tech / M.E B.Tech: Engineering & Research B.Tech / B.E M.Tech / M.E Doctorate Management B.Tech MBA / P.G. Diploma Curriculum rigor BSc: Comfortable. Students need to be good with Science and maths subjects. BTech Tough and demanding. Students need to be excellent in science, especially in maths. Career prospects after graduating: B.Sc: Since the course is general in nature, you need to complete M.Sc to get a good start in your career. B.Tech: Comparatively, career prospects after graduation in engineering are good, the choice of engineering discipline + further specialization under it gives an edge to choose and follow your career goals in that segment. However, for better and higher career prospects M.Tech / MBA is recommended. So, which one to choose: B.Sc- If you are comfortable with basic science and are more inclined to non-technical aspects of science, BSc is a good choice, and coupled with MSc you can make good progress in your career. B.Tech - If you are interested in the technical side of science, designs, calculations etc., and ready to do take on a demanding and challenging route, B.Tech is the right choice. Higher study choices: B.Sc- If you are interested in research work, you may do Masters (MSc) and then PhD. If you are interested in management stuff, go for an MBA after MSc. B.Tech- If core engineering stuff is your forte / research work, you may do your Masters (M.Tech / M.E) and later PhD. If management and business interests you, go for an MBA after B.Tech / BE. Note: Not every engineer is successful or earning huge income, and not all pure science students are struggling.

Before jumping to the scope, let us see the difference in these two and see what these two courses really are: B.tech is Bachelors in technology, that is basically applied science, and involves the development of technical skills also. It is a bit costlier than B.Sc. The course duration is 4 years. The curriculum is designed in such a way that it covers the technical and practical applications of science with theory. B.sc is Batchelor in Science and is basically more theoretical and broad than B.tech.It is a bit cheaper than B.tech and also less in duration. It extends for three years. That makes your study more inclined to theoretical aspects. For job perspective, if you see than B.tech graduate has more chances of getting a job than a B.sc graduate. For B.sc graduates, you need to do Masters, M.sc to have a start. For B.tech too Masters degree is recommended but B.tech is sufficient enough to land a good job, which is not the case for B.sc. Also in both the courses, one needs to be good in mathematics and science. B.sc is a science course in which you have to choose a field of study such as Maths, Physics, Chemistry and study that topic in a depth. In B.tech you need to choose a stream that is application based such as mechanical engineering or chemical Engineering and study the subject with a more practical and technical approach. Basically, two branches are, as name defines differently. One is science, other is technology/engineering. Science is more inclined to the development of fundamentals and building up theories, that explains the working of the world around us. It defines how and derives solutions for the basic working of the universe. B.sc graduates use their scientific knowledge to perceive the world and use science to get to a conclusion. The other one is Technology or engineering. It is the application of basic concepts of science that allow us to design, analyze and improve structures. Here we study and find solutions for the day to day solutions. B.tech graduates apply their technical skills to find solutions to the daily problems. So, both the branches have the same scope only in different areas. If you are concerned with the fundamental part, B.sc is right for you. If you are concerned with application part, Go for B.tech. That entirely depends upon your interest. Hope that helps ALL THE BEST

The advantage of doing B.Sc/B.Ed over engineering is: Less money in terms of fee. You will learn something and can study for competitive exams easily. Less pressure on you. Variety of options available for your future growth. Years of study: BSc3-4 years BTech4-5 years Study focus: B.Sc-Basic science (pure science) B.Tech-Applied science (technical / technological) Content: B.Sc-Broad and theoretical B.Tech-Practical and technical Flexibility: B.Sc-The content is general with no specific changes/option for selecting a specialisation. You need to doM.Sc/ M.Tech / ME / MBA for specialisation. B.Tech-Its designed on the individual field of engineering with an option to choose further specialisation/elective, in the final year, under your chosen field. This helps you focus on your specific area of interest. The route to higher studies. So both have their own pros and cons, better to judge what suits you best according to interest. Overall placements are similar to average salary, only IIT and NIT give great Salary being the major difference, else scope is equal.
