It is not clear from your question whether you want to take up maths as your principal subject. For that, you have to do graduation in maths. You can combine it with statistics which will help you to get more career opportunities. If you are really brilliant, then try to prepare for the entrance exams of ISI or the Maths Institute, Bangalore.

You can opt for the technical line such as BE or B.Tech. No, the 1-year gap will not be a problem later .

Depending on your 10th marks and your strength in mathematics, you can take non-medical or even commerce with mathematics. Non-medical is a better option. Gap year will matter only if the school wants an affidavit or character certificate before admission. As far as your own skills and ability are concerned, it is you who will decide about the impact of gap on further studies.
