MA means Master of Arts degree, it is a post graduate degree in any arts subject like history, civics, economics, any language, music or dance. M.Ed means Master of Education. For M.Ed you first need to pursue B.Ed. For B.Ed degree graduation is must in any subject. After graduation anybody is eligible for B.Ed entrance. If you clear this test then you can get admission in any education college. B.Ed is 1 year course if done through regular mode and is of 2 years through correspondence. B.Ed is necessary for teaching jobs. Although M.Ed is not necessary for teaching but this degree gives better chances in teaching profession.

Masters in Teaching: The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) emphasizes mainly on the progression of your teaching career. This is the degree most often pursued by people who want hands-on teaching experience and are seeking to work directly with students. The MAT focuses heavily on advanced coursework in a specific subject to hone your expertise. Coursework for the MAT also focuses on pedagogical theory and implementation. Essentially, the MAT will teach you how to be a teacher: methodology, stylistic approach, etc. Oftentimes, the Master of Arts in Teaching consists of hands-on experience that places you in a classroom as a student teacher to practice what you are learning. Master's in Education: A Master's in Education (M.Ed) is an advanced degree geared more towards moving beyond the classroom and into the education system itself. Certified teachers and aspiring teachers can pursue an M.Ed and still remain in the classroom, but the Master's in Education allows for a broader range within the educational sphere. The M.Ed is divided into three majors, or focuses, around different aspects of education: - Curriculum and Instruction - Counselor Education - Educational Administration

MA is simply Masters or Post Graduate Degree Program which can be pursued by anyone holding Bachelor Degree in any field (B.Com/B.A or any). On the other hand, M.Ed is Master in Education which can be pursued only after completing B.Ed. There is no alternate way to pursue M.Ed other than B.Ed. You should pursue according to your interest and details given above.
