Basically, it depend on you which kind of work you want to go for. If you want to go for mechanical engineering, then you can go for it, but from my opinion there is good career scope and increment in civil engineering field. You can start your own work after graduation, and also get some high opportunities after qualifying GATE.

Hello First of all choose your branches according to yours interest and scope because if you will have interest in that particular course then you could the best that field. But according to todays acpects Civil is becomig day be day a need as lots of projects are been implemented today. All the best
