If you solely focus on Civil Examinations and you are just graduating because of the minimum qualification as graduation and you determine on appearing for civil exams then I think that taking B.sc shall be better than B.Tech because B.sc is a three years course and B.tech is a four-year course. Going for B.sc shall certainly give you an extra one year to prepare for Civil exams and make you eligible early for appearing in civil exams because you are going to sit for civil exams anyway, so why don't get it over with. Not only that B.sc from some premium institutes as equally good and shall definitely beneficial as Doing B.tech from a good college. Also since B.sc is cheaper that B.tech is shall be economically helpful for you too. See, since you can opt for your B.tech courses for Civil exams, then you can go for B.tech if you want to appear for Civil exams taking your core subject as an option for the exam. In this case, you have full four years to study for civil exams (and that are also your engineering subject). you definitely get one year extra for preparation and definitely in depth study for such courses shall help you score in your graduation and you can get a better job and then can parallelly study for civil services examination. Also having a B.tech from a decent college can easily provide you job and having a backup of your career, you can always free mindedly study and devote your time for Civil studies. One important note I feel is that you should choose a degree with a branch that has your interest and catches your mind and imagination. Knowing a subject in depth and being professional in your field is what is required in a civil servant. Definitely having a topic of your interest won't bore you when you do an in-depth study of course and will always engage you. So these are the pros and cons of both the courses. Choose wisely as you shall be preparing for one of the toughest exams and no mistakes shall be accounted for. All the best

For going into civil services, the logics and reasoning is required. Before choosing a course, one should know that which will be going to reward him or her better at the time of exams. Though in this question, both the exams mentioned can be taken for the civil services examination though answer would be more precise if the field of study would be mentioned. There are many fields in BA such as political science as well as socio economic topics which will lead to get a good current idea. Also, there is not much preparation required in the Bachelor of arts degree hence one can focus more on the exam preparations. Though B.Sc degree is also important and valuable, though somehow linked with science. Also, one can find scope in another field after B.Sc but for civil services, I would suggest only BA. Also, most of the students preparing for civil services examination opt for BA rather than B.Sc. Also, the Bachelor’s degree done from a renowned university and an exam related stream will reward you better. Thank you and best of luck.

I will suggest you to study BA because in civil service exam, most of the questions are coming from the areas like history, geography, current affairs, politics etc. It's better to improve your standard/base through studying B.A.

B.Tech will be a better option as it will open many doors for you. If unfortunately, you were not able to qualify for civil services then you will have a plan B.

BA in English literature is a better option as you can fill this subject in UPSC. You can also have skills improvement, better communication skills and personality development with this stream as well as other options for employment.
