Computer Science and Engineering is no doubt a better one but many find its scope same as mechanical engineering and that's because if you are knowledgeable enough then you can also make a good career in the mechanical engineering field.

Choose what your mind says. If you have dreamt of being a mechanical engineer that opt for mechanical engineering else go for CS engineering. Placements and opportunities are very bright in both the branches. You can excel only where you have interest, so don't listen to others. Listen to your inner self.

If you want to do mechanical, go for IIT or best NIT College only, because vacancies are less in private as well as government for Mechanical Engineering. In CS, you can get good money and working environment from a good private college too.

I thank you for giving me this opportunity. I'm glad to help you. It depends on you. Your liking matters, if you are interested in programming and all you opt for CSE. You will get a wide range of opportunities in future. Placement and package: In a Tier 2 college in India as a mechanical engineering student & I can tell you in terms of job placements, almost all Computer/IT students have been placed, even Electronics students got placed in computer field. Average salary is 4lpa while the highest is 8lpa (16 students placed). But the mechanical scenario is not that good now as only one boy has got placed with 4lpa in the core branch while others are still struggling. The are more jobs in CSE than Mechanical. I hope this will help you.
