Which is the best branch to pursue in this college among ECE and mechanical engineering?

Both are good in JSS but please go with your interest just go through the syllabus / curriculum of both . First of all you should think and do some research about yourself . What excite you most , what you want to do in your life ,your aim . It depends on you what you like ,so please consider your interest not the placements ,faculty and other Stuffs. Please go with your interest . Scope of mechanical is good but in terms of placement in JSS Noida its not that good, only fraction of class students get placed through campus this time few that visited for mechies are Honda , Anglo-Eastern ,some designing related(Auto CAD, Solidworks)etc. And average salary is about Rs.3.6 lakhs p.a and rest crowd go for GATE exam, off campus placement ,other government services. JSS is good college have decent crowd and faculty with good labs. For ECE placemnts statics are better for campus placement but i have no idea about the ece offcampus placement. Teachers are almost of same level in both department.

From the view point of placement apportunities , both are more or less equal . The faculty in ECE is a bit strict but it counters that issue at the end of your semester through scaling in your marks . The decision depends on your area of interest as both are completely different branches

ece will be better than mechanical because placement of ece branch is good in jss
