You can do M.Tech also by qualifying GATE exam. After M.Tech, you can do Ph.D or a job in any company. After B.Tech, you can MBA by qualifying exams like CAT or MAT. After that, go for a job. If you get a good score in GATE exam above 96% then you can get a chance to get into a good college like IIT.

Both are of two different paths, both of them have their importance but comparatively, competition for getting a very good college for MS is less so, many prefer doing MS. So finally, my answer is if you are sure that you can get a good rank in GATE exam, M.Tech is the best option or if you can afford doing MS, you can go for it.
