Both Manipal Institute of Technology and Vellore Institute of Technology in Vellore are the best top private colleges of Engineering in India. According to me Vellore Institute of Technology in Vellore with mechanical engineering is much better choice than mechanical engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology because of the following reasons: 1. Fee structure of Manipal Institute of Technology is about 12.8 lakh while the fee structure of Vellore Institute of Technology in about 7.28 lakh in the course of mechanical engineering. 2. Faculty of Vellore Institute of Technology is much better than Faculty of Manipal Institute of Technology. 3. Infrastructure of Vellore Institute of Technology is much better than infrastructure of Manipal Institute of Technology Pune. 4. Facilities and interactive sessions provided by Vellore Institute of Technology to the students of mechanical engineering are much better than Manipal Institute of Technology. 5. Placements In VIT- Average package offered to mechanical engineering student is about 5 to 6 LPA. Highest package is about 14 LPA. In MIT- Paris package offered to mechanical engineering student is about 4 to 5 LPA. Highest package is about 12 LPA.

I'm currently a student of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune. So my answer mainly focuses on the facts about my college. We have got the average placements for mechanical engineering. The mechanical engineering department is gifted with a good quality faculties/staff. Plus, we have got a good infrastructure. Moreover, you can get Honours courses, many workshops and other courses that will help improve your employability. This department gets the highest package of around 10 lpa+. Average package is around 4 to 4.5 lpa. Some of the top notch companies coming for placements are Atlas Copco, Bosch, Morgan Stanley, Toyo, Sandvik, John dhere, Mahindra. Definitely, it's a very good department of our college to get admitted in.

VIT has an excellent curriculum. Its course outline of teaching Foreign Language, English spoken and mainly focus on the real subjects that actually matter in an individuals engineering life is excellent. Actually, it is a matter that almost every college teaches that subjects too which will not be useful in his/her future. But VIT doesn't have this policy which is excellent. Faculty members are very experienced also. Placements are good. College infrastructure is excellent with its huge campus. On the other hand, MIT mechanical sector is very good. It comes in those branches of MIT which maintains it placement, course outlines constant from the past years. The real field experience is given to students time to time as well as participation in competitions like BAJA fill up student's enthusiasm to the top level. Faculty members are very experienced, most of them are from IITs. Hence, I will suggest you choose Mechanical from MIT.

I would suggest you to go with VIT (Vishwakarma Institute of Technology) rather than MIT. Generally speaking, VIT ranks higher than MIT as such. Even if you compare cut-offs of VIT and MIT you can clearly see the cutoffs are high for VIT which means students prefer it over MIT. Last year VIT had around 80+ percent placement for the mechanical department with an average package around 5-6 LPA. VIT is known for its blend of academics with extra-curricular activities. It focuses on the all-round growth of its students in comparison to MIT. So my suggestion is that you must choose VIT for CSE over MIT.
