Computer science is very lucrative branch these days because of opportunities people are getting in this field. Coming years are of Technology where most of the Businesses are heading towards the use of computer technology as part of their core system. Taking mechanical engineering in discussion, it always had opportunities both in private and government sector. But when compared to computer science it has lesser opportunities. Hope it helps.

I think, CSE is better than mechanical because you can see how our country is becoming technically more powerful and just like Make in India projects and so many other project which are related to IT field will be useful to our generation, so there is no worries of job, but everyone is going for CSE, so you have to be at top in that, so you can achieve a big position.

According to me, both offer a lot of opportunities after completing your education, but, personally, I would suggest, you should pursue CSE. If you opt for CSE, you will get really worthy salary packages, avenues to go abroad and you can work anywhere. Computer science has a very wide scope. Indian IT companies such as Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Patni, HCL, etc., have been able to garner gains even during the recession and have hired a good number of computer professionals. Even the MNCs look for good computer engineers from India. Following are the best colleges to pursue B.Tech in CSE: 1. DTU, Delhi 2. IIT 3. UTM, Shillong

Both courses are good at their respective places. It is you who has to introspect yourself in which field you want to make career and if we compare both mechanical and CSE then I would suggest you to go with CSE rather than mechanical because with every business and organisation going digital, IT sector today is a booming field as compared to other sectors and there is a huge demand of computer science engineers and programmers.
