Bruce, BCA students are involved more in Computer Applications whereas BSc students can have advanced job opportunities in internet technology and database management. After successful completion of the course BCA, students can go for postgraduate courses like M.Sc (IT), MCA and MBA. The students who procured BSc can have further courses on MCA (Master of Computer Applications). Both of these courses have their own merits .Students interested to have a job in Software or in computer applications can choose to study BCA.Students who are interested in Database operations or Internet can go for BSc IT. Both these courses can offer challenging jobs in the field of computers. These days universities offer many options to choose from like BCA (Hons.), Dual/ Integrated BCA-MCA, BSc (CS), BSc (IT), etc. Universities like LPU, CU, DBU, etc offer a good academic atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Also, students are offered a lot of exposure to enhance their learning experience. The placements are very good. Some of them even offer scholarships. Check their websites for more details. Good luck.

BCA is a job oriented degree course and you can go for job immediately after BCA in Small and Medium size IT companies. As you are interested in Computer Science you are advised to go for BCA in comparison to generic B.Sc. BCA has currently more opportunities in comparison to generic B.Sc. BCA degree can only help you to get only entry level jobs and will require acquisition of PG degrees such as MCA and MBA IT for a meaningful career.
