A counter question: Do you need a law degree just for the name sake or you desire to pursue advocacy or something else in this field? As far as I remember, Bar Council of India does not recognize any such degree obtained from distance learning. Further, distance learning won't give you anything other than a degree. And considering the level of competition in the market, you would have to pursue some other course too to survive. Comparing distance learning with Nirma University for law is not very obvious. If you get opportunity to be admitted in Nirma University for law, do go for it without considering even twice.

The answer is Nirma, obviously. First of all, pursuing Law from an open university or as a distance learning course is not a good idea because Bar Council of India does not recognize LL.B through distance learning. So, pursuing law from any distance learning center is not a good thing. Secondly, Nirma is one of the top private colleges for law. Most of the students who don't get admission in national law universities and get a good rank chose Nirma as their second option. So, the classmates you get will be really good in terms of knowledge, hard work and intellectual level. You will get good competition there and that will make you a better lawyer then many people who pursue law from distance education. You will get a lot more opportunities in Nirma than in Karnataka State Open University. You cannot enjoy mooting culture, debates, regular classes and a lot more if you opt for Open University. So, no doubt, NIRMA should be the answer.

Institute of Law NIRMA University is among the best private university of the country in law as well as management courses. The options you will get in Karnataka State Open University will be very limited in nature. In NIRMA University, most of the students are from rank 2000-3000 in common law entrance test which clearly shows that the crowd is much better any day than Karnataka State Open University. Additionally, in open universities, you miss out on several things like law school life, moot court experience, participating and organising various events which are available in NIRMA University. It has improved a lot on placements also and is on equal footing with lower National law Universities. I would recommend you to choose LLB Institute of Law any day over Karnataka State Open University.
