The Bombay Flying Club is the birthplace of aviation in India since 1928.This prestigious institute has played a leading role in the history of aviation, In India. The Institute of THE BOMBAY FLYING CLUBS offers admission to a Three Year Degree Course leading to the award of B.Sc. (Aviation) The degree of the University of Mumbai to all persons who have attained the age of seventeen (17) years and who have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (HSC) conducted by Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education or any other Examination recognized as equivalent having passed in Physics and Mathematics. For over 24 years, from 1958 to 1982, the club successfully maintained and operated aircraft belonging to Madhya Pradesh State Government. Both the institutes are equally good. Bombay Flying has a good brand name and is well established one. It’s slightly better than MPFC.

Both flying clubs are equally good, quality of training wise. But one should select by considering following factors at the time of admission: 1. Cost per flying hours. 2. Current Aircraft: Student ratio. 3. Current status of the flying club. etc.

As you have asked a very specific question mentioning the names of just two flying clubs, so let me limit myself in explaining pros and cons of only these two flying schools. The Bombay Flying Club is the birthplace of aviation in India since 1928.This prestigious institute has played a leading role in the history of aviation in India. Late Mr.J.R.D.Tata the father of aviation in India was first to obtain the pilot's license in February 1929 from The Bombay Flying Club. The Bombay Flying Club has a unique distinction of being the only flying club in the world, which undertook the cross-country International flight from Bombay to Landon & back with four tiger moths participating in it in 1930s. MPFC: It was on October 9, 1951, when the club came into existence. The Club has set numerous records among all the flying clubs ever since the beginning of its operations in August 1955. For over 24 years, from 1958 to 1982, the club successfully maintained and operated aircraft belonging to Madhya Pradesh State Government. In the face of aggression in 1962, the club trained Indian Air Force Pilots for their initial flying. Once again during the 1971 aggression, the club offered services of its aircraft and maintenance staff to Indian Air Force. The club started its satellite base at Bhopal in 1958 to train candidates and also provide services to Madhya Pradesh State Government. Fees Charged in MPFC: a. Single engine Cessna 152A @ Rs.8,500/- per hour. b. Single engine Cessna 172R @ Rs.9,500/- per hour. For Bombay Flying Club also, the fee is approximately same as that of MPFC. The Bombay Flying club is an approved institute by The Director General Of Civil Aviation (government. of India) for imparting training to Pilots. The club has a fleet of PIPER PA18, Cessna 152A, Cessna 172, Cessna172R (Glass Cockpit-like Airlines aircraft cockpit)-Single Engine & Seneca (Twin Engine) Aircraft. We also have a DGCA approved Synthetic Simulator (ELITE) for single engine & multi-engine flying training. Address: The Bombay Flying Club Juhu Aerodrome, Opp. Nanavati Hospital, S.V.Road, Vile Parle-(W). Mumbai-400 056 The Madhya Pradesh Flying Club Ltd., Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport, Civil Aerodrome, Indore -452005(M.P.) Mail: mpfc_admn@rediffmail.com Decide wisely and then proceed to the flying club for your training.
