It is one of the most frequently asked question by engineers from all streams. I will start from the basics. There is nothing common between Engineering and MBA specialization in marketing or finance. It is more about aptitude and interest because in any case you will have to acquire the requisite knowledge for both. Having said this, Marketing is easier to grasp and compete in because not only it is new for all but also, in spite of being complex, it is easier to assimilate and visualize. it is easier to connect and engage with. As far as Finance is concerned it has pursuants who have an edge having done BCom in graduation besides direct competition with Chartered Accountants. However, if you have a flair for number crunching and well developed logical and analytical skills, you can choose Finance. Besides, most MBA offerdual specializationso you can select one as the major specialization and the other as the minor one. MBA Analytics for me would be a better choice over these two. Firstly because it is totally aligned with the skills acquired during engineering. Secondly there are a lot of career opportunities that are coming up in this domain. It is the next big field where numbers of fast growth paced careers are likely to be made. At the same time, most popular combination with Analytics is Finance. Last point, as suggested in one of the other answers,Operationis another option you could evaluate.
