Computer science engineers are involved in many aspects of computing from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers and supercomputers to circuit designing and writing software that powers them. Information technology deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to store, protect the process, transmit and securely retrieve data. IT professionals perform a variety of tasks that range from installing applications to designing complex computer networks and information databases. Both the branches are good, take the branch in which you are interested.

CS is better because the difference between CS and IT is that in IT you would study only software but in CS you would study both hardware and software. Also scope in CS is wider than IT. If you have further questions, then kindly revert.

CS would be better than IT. Look which you get easily is always better than which you get hardly. You will easily get IT but you will have to work hard for CS.

IT can be considered as a subset/part of CS. In most of the engineering colleges, CS is preferred over IT as it is more exhaustive in curriculum compared to IT. In CS, one can study about computer architecture, advanced computer architecture, database systems, computer Graphics, etc., which naturally opens up avenues for higher studies abroad. If somebody is looking from placements perspective then one may not find a lot of difference between both the streams since most of the companies would prefer both CS and IT for shortlisting candidates. Both through CS and IT, one can aspire to join IT and ITes companies throughout the country.
