I got a call from new IIMs and my profile and CAT score was the following: CAT 97.97 Xth -77.33 XIIth-78.4 Graduation -71% Date of interview- 6th March 2013. The twist in the tail was I got rejected by NMIMS few days earlier inspite of a fabulous interview so was a bit dejected. How I prepared: I wrote about 2-3 passages daily giving myself 15-20 min. for each, the topic were searched from various coaching center websites. Read more essays from internet and built up the content. Both of these started once I got my CAT result on 9th Jan 2013. For interview, gave lot of mocks and built my answer to "Why MBA?". Studied: Current affairs Electronics and Communication -my degree course Basic of Economics and Statistics Geography of India About Infosys (my workplace) Prepared about my work experience

The things that matters the most in converting the IIM calls are: - 1) Research on the topics that are usually taken in the GD rounds. 2) Nature of the question. 3) Read newspaper and magazine to build knowledge about the current affairs. 4) Essay writing skills as you would be given a topic on the spot and you have to write it in 10 mins. 5) During the time of Personal Interview (PI) be confident while answering. 6) During PI be well dressed and you should look smart in your formals, if you have beards then it should be in shape and size so that it suits you. 7) If you do not know the answer then be comfortable to say “I don't know" the answer rather than trying to answer something else. 8) Maintain a proper body language during the conversation. 9) The most important thing would be the communication skills I.e., both verbal and non-verbal communication skills.

Hello! An interviewer of an IIM or non-IIM looks for not just one, but many things while conducting an interview. The three major aspects(which I feel are crucial) are as follows:- 1. Communication skills: It is of utmost importance that a would-be manager should possess top-notch communication skills(both verbal and written) as it is required in the corporate world. It becomes more convenient for someone to indulge in a formal and/or informal talk if he/she speaks fluently and writes well. 2. Decision-making skills: When a question related to pursuing MBA is asked during the PI stage, the sole purpose of it being asked is to check whether the candidate is sure about taking a step which can impact his/her career in a big way. A manager is expected to take decisions(sometimes in quick-time) which are beneficial to the company. 3. Body language: It become quite imperative to keep in mind one's body language while preparing for an interview. One should never be nervous, as the interviewers are there to select you and not reject you; these interview rounds is a selection stage and not an elimination stage. Converting these interview calls can be a smooth process if all the right things are kept in mind. All the best!
