If you make a plan and work on it, then it is a good idea. You have to aim for your vision, work hard and smart for the same.

You should compel yourself to choose the field, which you like. You can drop a year, if you are fully determined to crack the exams. Else, you can continue with simple B.Sc because studying that effectively could get you better jobs than IITans. I hope it helps.

If you feel strongly that by taking one year gap, you can prepare for IIT JEE exam, then you must go for it. You should join a good coaching class and focus on IIT JEE preparation.
