NET and SET are qualifying exam for lectureship whereas, PhD. is a research programme. Talking about better option or the best option, I would suggest you to appear for NET examination and option for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) at the time of application. After qualifying as lecturer, you can go for PhD. and will receive allowances through UGC JRF. So, along with the eligibility to be a lecturer, you will be able to get financial support for your PhD programme. This will enable you to continue your higher studies and make a bright future out of it. Opting for this as a choice will allow one to move towards the academics and use the gained knowledge for teaching sector and training. This level of academics can be provided at various colleges where the basic eligibility for faculty is generally NET/PhD holders or even people with 15+ years of experience. Opting for this will also open opportunities of entrepreneurship of opening various institutes and coaching that guide students for the training of MCA/BCA or other technical courses.

The Ph.D Programme in computer science aims at training students in the skills and competencies related to the systematic investigation of various issues and problems in the area of their study in the field of computer science or information technology. At this level, the study is expected to provide new and original insights into the problem or the area under investigation. Therefore, Ph.D in computer science or IT prepares students for the field of education as university faculty, research, writer, and consulting by training them to seek new knowledge in the area of their expertise. Some computer science/ IT specialist takes a career as consultants, advisor to CIOs and large businesses decision makers. In addition in western developed economies, there are many corporate management opportunities available for these highly qualified professionals in technology companies. These positions may include top-tier management or executive jobs and could involve working in a number of different fields due to their versatility. If you have technology research orientation then NET/ Ph.D after MCA is an excellent career option.

NET (National Eligibility Test) and Ph.D both are different. NET is an all India entrance test conducted by UGC (University Grant Commission) while Ph.D is a programme. The NET exam is conducted twice in a year in the month of June and December. The notification is generally published in the month of April and September for June and December exam respectively. The candidates who want to pursue Ph.D and want to become university level lecturer job can apply for the NET exam. Following are details regarding NET exam- # The candidate should be a post graduate from recognised university or college. # The final year candidates can also apply. # the age of the candidate should not more than 30 year. NET exam judges the candidate's merit and passing NET exam ensures whether the student will be able to enroll into Ph.D. NET exams is mandatory for candidates who wish to pursue Ph.D.
