filesize() returning false in php

i'm trying to make a jason of the files and there size, its working perfectly for the directory that this php file is saved in but when i change the directory the filesize() returns false. this works fine:

  $dir= "./"; //path
  $com/tag/list">list = array(); //main array

if(is_dir($dir)){
   if($dh = opendir($dir)){
       while(($file = readdir($dh)) != false){

           if($file == "." or $file == ".."){

               $com/tag/list">list3 = array(
               'file' => $file, 
               'size' => com/tag/files">filesize($file));
               array_push($com/tag/list">list, $com/tag/list">list3);
           }
       }
   }

   $return_array = array('com/tag/files">files'=> $com/tag/list">list);
   com/tag/echo">echo json_encode($return_array);
}
?>

but this doesn't work:
