NATIONAL Sample SURVEY, 2.2 percent of our population is counted as disabled.The National Statistical Office (NSO) survey found that the average number of people with disabilities in the population was 2.2% between July 2018 and December 2018 in the region. The NSO, a wing of the Ministry of STATISTICS and Policy Implementation, conducted a Survey of People with Disabilities between July 2018 and December 2018 as part of the 76th round of the National Sample Survey (NSS).Previously, the survey on the same subject was performed by the NSO during the 58th round (July-December 2002).The prevalence of disabilities among males was 2.4%, while the prevalence among females was 1.9%. The key purpose of the study was to approximate measures of the frequency and prevalence of impairment, cause, age at onset, services ACCESSIBLE to people with disabilities, challenges encountered by them in accessing/using public buildings/public transport, availability of regular care, out-of-pocket costs due to disability, etc.
