STATES Karnataka, Kerela and Tamil Nadu.These mountains are named after the Neelakurunji FLOWERS (purplish-blue flowers) found in Shola forests of Nilgiri hills.The vegetation ranges from the EVERGREEN forests to the Shola Grasslands and thorny bushes.It is the HABITAT of the ENDANGERED species, the Nilgiri Tahr.Todas, Kurumbas, Paniyas and Adiyans are the tribes living here.The Mudumalai and Waynad wildlife sanctuaries, Bandipore National park, Nagarhole national park, Mukurthi national park and Silent valley national park are a part of Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.Bhavani, Moyar, Kabini, Chaliyar and Punampuzha rivers drain these mountains.Pamir Knot (Tibet) is known as the 'Roof of the world'.
