Former India off-spinner M Venkataramana was on Friday appointed as the new coach of Tamil Nadu side ahead of the new domestic season. He takes over the reins of the state side from D Vasu whose contract expired in June this year.

“Vasu did a good job with the team. We are looking for fresher ideas and have now gone in with Venkataramana. He has vast experience both as a player and coach. We are confident that he will do a good job,” a senior TNCA official said. During Vasu’s tenure as the coach, TN had won the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 last season. In addition to that, TN had made the finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali in 2019-20.
