2005.The NATIONAL Rural Health Mission (NRHM) was LAUNCHED on 12th APRIL 2005 throughout India.National Rural Health Mission is the name of a flagship programme launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.NRHM launched to provide accessible, affordable, and quality health care to the rural population, especially the vulnerable groups.NRHM was for the period 2005-2012. In 2013 the Union Cabinet vide its decision, APPROVED the continuation of the Scheme as a Sub-mission of an over-arching National Health Mission (NHM) for the period 2012-2017. Under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Scheme, a village level health worker is known as ASHA, who is selected from the village itself. ASHA is a trained female community health activist who works as an interface between the public health system and the community.
