IMPLEMENT long-term solutions to problems by helping developing countries create the NECESSARY capacity needed to provide such sustainable solutions to their problems. One such PROGRAMME was the MDGs.Millennium Development Goals (MDGs):In September 2000, world leaders came together at the United Nations Headquarters in New York to adopt the United Nations Millennium Declaration. The Declaration committed nations to a new global partnership to reduce extreme poverty and set out a series of eight time-bound targets, with a deadline of 2015, that came to be known as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).The aims of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were to encourage development by improving social and economic conditions in the world's poorest countries. These 8 MDG Goals were:To ERADICATE extreme poverty and hungerAchieve universal primary educationPromote gender equality and empower womenReduce child mortalityImprove maternal healthCombat HIV/AIDS, MALARIA, and other diseasesEnsure environmental sustainabilityDevelop a global partnership for the developmentTherefore, from the above explanation, we can conclude that Human rights was NOT an issue to be addressed under Millenium Development Goals.
